The Vermont Association of Snow Travelers, Inc. (VAST) announces the final findings of the “Snowmobile Trail Chemistry Study,” completed during the winter of 2009/2010.
Snowmelt and runoff chemistry monitoring indicated no detectable levels of volatile organic compounds or total hydrocarbons in surface waters that are located immediately down gradient of snowmobile trails; leading to the conclusion that snowmobile usage did not have any impact on the surface water quality in the vicinity of heavily used snowmobile trails.
